Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) Specialist

Millar Western’s Whitecourt Pulp Division is seeking a Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) Specialist who will play a key role in improving equipment reliability, maximizing asset performance, and supporting predictive maintenance initiatives across our operation. Working as an integral member of the Maintenance Team and reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent, you will collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and technical services teams to monitor critical equipment health and proactively prevent failures.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have a Journeyperson Trade Certificate in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline with at least three years of related experience, or a Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Candidates should have ISO Vibration Analysis Category II certification or a willingness to obtain it. Additional certification or training in oil analysis, thermography, ultrasound, or other predictive maintenance technologies is an asset.

The ideal candidate will have experience with rotating equipment condition monitoring, balancing, lubrication programs, and troubleshooting equipment such as compressors, turbines, gearboxes, pumps, blowers, chillers, and motors. Experience using Emerson CSI 2140 vibration analyzers and associated analysis software, or similar condition monitoring technology, is preferred.

Experience with SAP or other CMMS systems, Root Cause Analysis methodologies, and reliability tools such as FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis is highly desirable. Strong analytical, communication, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills, combined with advanced Microsoft Office proficiency, will be critical to success in this role.
