Maintenance Planner

Millar Western’s Whitecourt Pulp Division is seeking a Maintenance Planner who will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable execution of maintenance activities across the mill. Reporting to the Electrical Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and scheduling routine and non-routine maintenance work, coordinating shutdown activities, managing maintenance backlogs, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment reliability and operational performance.

The ideal candidate

The successful candidate will possess a Journeyperson Electrical or Instrumentation Certificate, or a related Engineering Degree or Diploma, combined with relevant maintenance planning, maintenance supervision, or industrial maintenance experience. Experience in a pulp mill, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment would be considered an asset.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and prioritization skills, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and the capacity to effectively coordinate work across maintenance, operations, engineering, and supply chain teams. Candidates must have experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, with SAP experience preferred.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and MS Project, is required. Experience with maintenance planning and scheduling processes, budgeting, preventive maintenance programs, reliability-centered maintenance principles, and continuous improvement initiatives will contribute to success in this role.

The successful candidate will be a proactive problem solver with strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to safety, reliability, and operational excellence.
