Whitecourt-region forest companies holding open houses in May
Millar Western is again teaming up with Whitecourt-area forest companies — Alberta Newsprint Company, Alberta Plywood and Blue Ridge Lumber — in hosting a series of open houses to share annual operating plans for the 2014-15 forestry year. At events in the communities of Swan Hills, Whitecourt, Fox Creek and Niton Junction/McKay, participating companies will be unveiling their plans for harvesting, forest renewal and herbicide (glyphosate) treatment activities in the year ahead, for public review and input.
“We have been holding these coordinated open houses for a number of years now, and find them more convenient for stakeholders, allowing them to travel to a single location to view multiple plans, rather than having to attend various company-specific events,” said Allen Mottet, Millar Western’s Planning Forester. “We encourage anyone with an interest in our forest operations to come out and take a look at our plans. Everyone is welcome.”
