Whitecourt named Forest Capital of Canada for 2013
Millar Western congratulates the Town of Whitecourt and Woodlands County on their designation as Forest Capital of Canada for 2013, an honour announced earlier this week by the Canadian Forestry Association (CFA) and Canadian Institute of Forestry (CIF).
The tradition of naming a Forest Capital of Canada began in the 1970s, and is intended to celebrate and recognize communities and regions with strong connections the forest. The Forest Capital of Canada program focuses on the valuable role forests play in the socioeconomic and environmental health of our communities – past, present, and future.
A special recognition ceremony is being planned in Whitecourt for May 2013. Millar Western looks forward to joining with CIF/CFA, the Town of Whitecourt, Woodlands County, and our forest sector colleagues in helping the community celebrate this well deserved designation throughout the year.
