Whitecourt employees help Santa come to town!

To help town residents celebrate the Yuletide and other holidays of the season, the Whitecourt & District Chamber of Commerce each year holds a Christmas-tree lighting and Santa Claus parade. Over the years, Millar Western has entered a great many special, employee-built floats into the Christmas event, often winning awards for the best entries its category.

In 2010, the company was offered the opportunity to take on responsibility for the final, much-anticipated float of the parade, the one bearing Santa Claus.  Staff in Millar Western’s Pulp and Wood Products Divisions collaborated on the float preparations, which involved much careful planning and creative work.  The result of their efforts took pride of place in the parade, held Saturday, December 4th.  For the enjoyment of all spectators, and to the delight of kids lining the route, Santa was borne along on a colourful display, complete with traditional sleigh, bright lights, moving reindeer and festive music.

Congratulations on a job well done to all pulp mill, sawmill and woodlands personnel who participated in the many tasks involved in this special project, and to all those who kept the operations running smoothly while their colleagues were busy working on the display! Thanks and Merry Christmas to all!
