Millar Western Summer Student Mitch Martell chosen as Green Dream Intern

Congratulations to our returning pulp mill summer student and new Green Dream Intern Mitch Martell! Following a Canada-wide selection process, Mitch was one of 10 outstanding students selected by the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) to serve as Green Dream Interns for 2017. Under FPAC’s Greenest Workforce program, Mitch and fellow interns will each receive an iPad mini or a GoPro to help them blog about their summer adventures in the forest industry. All who successfully complete their internship will also be awarded a $1000 scholarship to support their education.

This is Mitch’s third summer at the Millar Western pulp mill in Whitecourt, where he’s working in mill operations and quality testing. Born and raised in Whitecourt, Mitch is a third-generation member of the forest industry, with a strong awareness of our sector’s importance to rural communities in Alberta and across the country. When not spending his summers working at the pulp mill, Mitch is a finance and economics student at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. Mitch is glad to be part of the Green Dream team, who’ll be sharing their work experiences with other students and the public through the  summer months. As Mitch writes in his first blog post, “I’m really excited to show everyone what Whitecourt has to offer and how sustainable the forestry industry is.” You can follow Mitch and other Green Dreamers, here.
