Millar Western releases 2006 Sustainable Forest Management Plan

pdf/MWFP_SFM_plan_2006.pdf In preparation for CSA certification auditing, Millar Western’s Whitecourt Woodlands Division has released its 2006 Sustainable Forest Management Plan. The plan sets out the values, objectives, indicators and targets (VOITS) that will guide the company’s forest management operations for the next 10 years, starting in 2007. The VOITs were developed in cooperation with the Public Participation Group (PPG), a committee representing stakeholders from in and around Millar Western’s operating area, for the company’s 2007-2016 Detailed Forest Management Plan, and apply both to the DFMP and to the SFM plan prepared for CSA certification.

Already certified under FORESTCARE and ISO 14001, Millar Western has elected to pursue CSA certification in order to provide the public and its customers with further evidence that it is managing the forest in a sustainable manner, respecting the wide range of forest values identified by the company, government and community.
