Millar Western and other companies hold joint forest-planning open houses, mountain pine beetle forums

Starting May 17, Millar Western and other Whitecourt-area forest companies will be holding a series of joint open houses in north-western Alberta, to unveil their annual operating plans, including harvesting, forest renewal and herbicide (glyphosate) treatment activities. These events offer the public an opportunity to learn more about where the forest industry intends to work in the year ahead and to provide input into these plans prior to implementation. In Whitecourt and Fox Creek, the open houses will be followed by mountain pine beetle forums, featuring presentations from local municipalities and Alberta Sustainable Resource Development on the growing infestation and its impact on area forests. The events are free, and everyone is welcome.
