Forest industry spends more than $1 billion annually in Edmonton area.
On January 18, 2007, the Alberta Forest Products Association, Forest Industry Suppliers Association and Edmonton Economic Development Corporation released the findings of a study showing that Alberta’s forest industry spends more than $1 billion annually in the Greater Edmonton Area alone. At a press conference in Edmonton’s City Hall, AFPA President Ken Vanderwell and representatives of FISLA and EEDC said the study was conducted to make regional municipalities better aware of the renewable resource industry’s economic impact and to urge cooperation, collaboration and support.
