Alberta Trappers’ Association honours Millar Western’s work on pine marten habitat.

At the Alberta Trappers’ Association annual convention, held recently in High Prairie, Millar Western was presented with the association’s Habitat Gain Award for its work on a pine marten habitat research initiative.

Joining Alberta trappers and Lakehead University in support of the pine marten project, Millar Western provided lumber from its Whitecourt sawmill for the construction of nesting boxes, as well as donating forestry staff time for study design and mapping. The company will also establish and maintain a database for storing and analyzing the information gathered in the study, aimed at expanding knowledge of pine marten habitat requirements.
