A winning summer for our Green Dream Intern
Millar Western wishes to congratulate Kyle Waterman, our Woodlands Forestry Assistant Green Dream Intern, for winning the $700.00 runner-up prize for the best Green Dream Blog. Kyle, who hails from Ontario, captured his personal experiences about living in Alberta and working in its vibrant forest products sector on his blogs, which you can read here. Kyle was one of eight lucky students who competed and won the online Green Dream Internship social media contest hosted through TheGreenestWorkforce.ca, a resource tool that provides information on the dynamic direction of the forest products industry and career opportunities on offer right across the country. |

Millar Western offered a total of three internship positions to the 2013 Green Dream contest, with the other two going to Patrick Pickard of Alberta, who worked as a Technical Support Student at the Whitecourt pulp mill, and Connor Vale of Ontario, who, together with Kyle, worked as a Woodlands Forestry Assistant. The Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC), with support from the Government of Canada, launched the online GreenestWorkforce campaign in February 2013 to encourage Canadians who care about their future, the environment and their quality of life, to consider the forest products industry for a great career. The exciting news is the Green Dream Internship Contest will be back this fall! Students should stay tuned to find out how they can compete online for a chance at a four-month paid 2014 summer internship at a great Canadian forest products company! Details can be found here. And congratulations to all interns for their excellent blogging, which raised awareness of the diverse career opportunities in the forest industry. Best wishes to you all as you start a new school year! |
