Process Engineer
Application deadline: December 15, 2024Millar Western’s BCTMP mill in Slave Lake, Alberta, is seeking a Chemical Engineer to play a leadership role in mill optimization and new technology implementation. As a Process Engineer, you will apply your skills and knowledge to process enhancement, process control and environmental systems. Additionally, you will lend your expertise to the mill’s R&D activities. Key responsibilities will include:
- Process optimization: Advise on process optimization and plant debottlenecking; conduct daily plant performance/quality assessments and troubleshoot process issues; assist in the development of control strategies for new process systems; manage key performance indicators; perform process engineering calculations and data analysis; review PID and P&ID drawings.
- Environmental optimization: Work with the operations and environmental departments, helping to optimize environmental systems and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- R&D: Develop capital project justifications for expenditures; design and assist with capital improvement projects; analyze and make recommendations on advances in R&D; work on new product development.
The ideal candidate
Qualified applicants will hold a degree in Chemical Engineering and have excellent written and verbal communication abilities. You will have proven leadership and interpersonal skills, and thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. You will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated and creative problem solver and enjoy technical challenges. You will be proficient with MS Office and possess a Class 5 driver’s license.
