Millar Western recognized at GROWTH Alberta gala
At a gala awards ceremony in Westlock on January 18, 2014, Millar Western’s Whitecourt operations together with ANC and Blue Ridge Lumber were presented with GROWTH Alberta’s 2013 Premier Award, recognizing their status as major employers in the region and their collaborative and cooperative approaches to community engagement. The award, which was first announced during Small Business Week in October 2013, was presented by Woodlands County, which noted the importance of the forest industry to the area and its role in earning Whitecourt the Forest Capital of Canada designation in 2013. The event was attended by over 250 people, including several Millar Western employees and their guests. Accepting the award on Millar Western’s behalf was the pulp mill’s Mark Wright, who thanked GROWTH Alberta for the recognition.
