Millar Western offers scholarships to Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation students

The historically close ties between the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation and Millar Western were strengthened several years ago with the signing of a Forestry and Economic Development Agreement (FEDA). FEDA outlines opportunities and responsibilities in environmental stewardship and economic development.

Among the many activities covered under FEDA, Millar Western makes scholarships available to Alexis students pursuing post-secondary education. Under the scholarship program, six awards of $1000 are made available every year to eligible students.

Funded by Millar Western, the scholarships are administered and awarded by the FEDA Environmental Co-Stewardship Committee (ECSC), whose members represent the community, the company and the provincial government.

With September 12 set as the deadline for 2008 scholarship applications, the ECSC has launched STEP UP! – a campaign to get the word out to Alexis students. See the links below for more information about the 2008 Alexis/Millar Western Scholarship Program:
