Mechanical Engineer/Technologist

Millar Western Forest Product’s Quesnel River Pulp Division is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer/Technologist who will play a pivotal role in enhancing mechanical infrastructure reliability and performance. Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, the successful candidate will coordinate and execute projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines. Responsibilities include project design, budgeting, and scheduling, alongside hands-on supervision of construction, commissioning, and contractor management. Expertise in AutoCAD and familiarity with relevant codes and standards will be essential in optimizing equipment lifecycle and safety protocols.

The ideal candidate

The position requires a candidate with 5-10 years of capital or major maintenance project management experience, showing strong leadership and a proactive approach. Eligibility for EGBC membership and either current registration or eligibility for AScT registration with ASTTBC is required, with consideration given to other disciplines based on experience. Essential qualities include clear communication, confidence, diligence, and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines. Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and CMMS software (SAP or Maximo) is necessary. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent organizational skills and a flexible, team-focused attitude, eager to learn and collaborate for effective problem-solving.
