Nojack Commercial Timber Permit (CTP) – Virtual Open House
Welcome to our Nojack CTP Open House, held virtually due to Covid-19. The Alberta government has advised Millar Western that it is prepared to grant a CTP to harvest 100,000 m3 of aspen and conifer timber on Crown land in the Nojack area (WO1). The logs will be transported to our manufacturing facilities in Whitecourt and used to produce lumber and pulp. Harvesting and hauling operations, which will be conducted according to Alberta’s Operating Ground Rules, are expected to take place during the winter of 2020-21, but may extend into 2021-22. Millar Western will ensure restoration of healthy forests in harvest areas, in compliance with Alberta’s regeneration standards.
Permit conditions require Millar Western to develop an operating plan, detailing where it intends to harvest and how it will reclaim and restore the harvested areas, to ensure sustainability of our forest resources. We are seeking public input into our proposed plan before submitting it to government for approval.
